Call for Pervasive 2007 Doctoral Colloquium Submissions

The PERVASIVE 2007 doctoral colloquium will be held on Sunday the 13th of May 2007 in Toronto, Canada. We invite PhD students and candidates to present their work-in-progress or preliminary results and gain feedback from an international and renowned audience of researchers and developers in the pervasive computing field.

Doctoral students who have progressed far enough in their research to have an Idea Paper and a structured proposal, but will not be defending their dissertation in the next 6 months are invited to submit a thesis position paper. This 6-month stipulation is set in place because we would like for the students to have sufficient time to incorporate the advice and suggestions discussed in the colloquium.

The submission (approx. 3000 words) should follow the provided template and clearly state:

  • the original key idea of the thesis
  • the problem domain and the specific problem addressed
  • an overview of related work in the area of the PhD work
  • methodological approach
  • research carried out
  • the contribution made in the field of Pervasive Computing

We expect that the submissions relate to the guiding questions provided in the template and that students reflect on their thesis topic.

Submissions in PDF format using the OCG format should be sent by January 26, 2007 electronically. The submissions will be reviewed and based on these reviews, candidates for the doctoral colloquium will be selected.

The accepted thesis position papers will be published in the adjunct proceedings of Pervasive 2007 which will be also electronically available from the Web-site.
